Ever wondered how the U.S. Army trains? Here's your chance to learn how to train like them. Army PT Run

In reality, it's not that hard. Most of the exercises are all endurance-related. In combat, endurance matters more than anything. There's no point in being super-strong if you can't keep it up. Those that can perform longer, last longer, and live longer. On to the drills!

The U.S. military switches between cardio and strength builders. The routine will continue forever and switch off with each other every other day.

On cardio days - RUN! Jog lightly around the block to get some blood flowing into your legs. Stop and stretch yourself out. Stretch everything! Then run at a good steady pace. How fast should you go? Easy, run at the SLOWEST speed that doesn't allow you to talk. In other words, if you need to run at a pace just fast enough that it keeps you so busy breathing that you can't say anything. DO NOT KILL YOURSELF! Run for a good 15-20 minutes. If you are new to this, work your way up from 3-4 minutes and increase the time every week in increments. Top runners will spend an hour to 3 hours running each day.

On strength building days - Stretch, do some jumping jacks to really get that body warmed up. Then start doing push-ups. Do 1 minute of push-ups, then rest for a minute, and then repeat until you have done 3 sets. The best way to time things is to have to take turns with a buddy. When 1 person is doing the push-ups, the other is counting and watching his/her form. Next up is sit-ups. Again, you and your partner will take turn holding each other's feet and watching each other's form.


Running is going to running no matter what.

As for your strength days, there is TONS of variety that you can put into your workouts. Do squats, 20 at a time. Do crunches. The main thing is for you to go by TIME, and to alternate.

Easy as that. Now you can get in s hape military style.
