Tonight's PPV matchup showcases Jermain "Bad Intentions" Tayler against Kassim "The Dream" Ouma. I"ve said it before and I'll say it again: "Taylor will beat Ouma". Why?
Easy. Because Ouma is too small. Actually, I don't think I could pick against Taylor even if Ouma was the same size. Ouma is a volume puncher. He's a slick defender with a steady rthym that beats well past 12 rounds. But that's about it. He's not overwhelmingly fast or strong but Taylor is. Taylor has blinding speed in both hands, and he hits very hard. Taylor also has more experience and you can see by the number of big named fighters on his resume. Ouma has proven his right to be in the same ring with Taylor by beating almost all of the strong contenders he has faced. The truth is, Ouma hasn't had any decent showing against an elite title-class opponent. He won against Kofi Jantuah because Kofi seemed to be out of shape or just didn't have enough conditioning. Jantuah's punches were not strong enough against Ouma's solid chin and he tired physically and mentally as the rounds went on, allowing Ouma to tap-dance all over him with punches throughout the rest of the fight. We should also take notice of Ouma's inability to knock out real contenders his own size. He throws many punches yet he has a difficult time knocking out people. He doesn't even seem to be able to grind them down through his sheer punches. Taylor on the hand has knocked out just about everybody willing to trade with him. Taylor definitely hits much harder than the stiff Marco Antonio Rubio and unknown Roman Karmazin whom floored Ouma quite easily. Lets also not forget that Taylor is now training under Emanuel Steward who is one of the best trainers of all time.
The verdict? Taylor by late knockout. His size, strength, speed, and experience advantages will find the slick volume boxer, Ouma, and put him away. Ouma's boxing style is designed for trading punches and he's not going to win this fight against a bigger stronger puncher with the endurance to last all 12 rounds. --- TAYLOR BY KNOCKOUT 9TH ROUND.
P.S.: Boxing writers need to stop the sob story about Ouma growing up as a dirt poor boy from Uganda who lived the hard life and fought in the army at a young age and lived through the roughest times. Why? Because that's just about the same story as ALL former, current, and future champions. Bernard Hopkins was in jail, Oscar De La Hoya came from East LA (enough said), Pacquiao sold stolen cigarettes for money, Mike Tyson was an orphan, Carlos Baldimir never really trained and fought as a part-time job to make extra money, Erik Morales came from Tijuana, etc...etc... blah blah blah. Just about most boxers are poor; which is the reason why they fight, to break out of poverty. The REAL sad story is the where all the other boxers spend their entire lives fighting and destroying their body and still not making enough to eat.
